A fight can happen in an instant, allowing emotions to boil over before anybody has time to think about what one another is saying. “the Soft Goodbye” dips into one of these moments when Carrie discovers that Marlon has given a large sum of money to an old friend down on his luck.

This is the first short film neon reel has produced since the wrap of 3tards and is the first in a series of short films, pushing neon reel Entertainment into a new direction away from “dick and fart” jokes. “the Soft Goodbye” demonstrates the power of an argument and how a fight no one saw coming could end a strong relationship. This short film will have audiences thinking twice before making any snap judgments or quick decisions before storming away from a fight.

The short film begins with Carrie solemnly washing dishes with a marital argument plaguing her thoughts. Her husband attempts to reach her, but after the long road the two have faced together, Carrie appears to have had the final argument she could have with Marlen. It is easy to see the pain in her face as she struggles with the notion of moving on without him

Written by Matt Matzen and, debuting, Steve Shives, “the Soft Goodbye” presents the audience with the reality that most of our decisions made in anger are often decisions we regret. One small choice made in the haste of the moment can be a choice we regret for the rest of our lives.
