Is Super 8 super?

Is Super 8 super?

Welcome to another edition of The Fuckers Corner. This week I would like to focas my attention on J.J. Abrams and his upcoming film "Super 8" which just happens to be premering This Friday in theaters near you. As many of you may already know; J.J. Abrams has produced Super 8, Cloverfield, Lost the series, Lost - the missing piece (a tv mini series), Star Treck (2009), and Armageddon (1998). Not only that, he uses viral marketing which is very cool tool to utilize. I am very excited and I already have my tickets paid for which is a once or maybe twice a year thing I do.
To take a quote from Matt's blog titled "Where have all the good films gone?", Have movies lost their touch? I am afraid the answer is currently yes. But, there is great news for you folks that share Matt and I's opinion. Every once and awhile a little gold nugget emerges from the big pile of shity films that they deem fit to call " summer blockbusters". I truely believe that this film will be just that. While I'm remembering to mention this I beleive I should. It really has nothing to do with Steven Speilberg for me. Sure, he has a handful of great films under his belt but I believe he too has slightly fallen off. Don't hate, just my opinion remember?
As i mentioned in the begening, J.J. Abrams has my full attention and I am stoked to see Super 8.
One of my closest friends and director of Neonreel Matt Matzen was the one who first got me into Abrams work. I had seen Cloverfield without prompting and I really grew an appreciation for it rather quickly. One day following, I watched Star Trek with Matt and absolutly loved that. At this point, I had only seen the first 6 episodes of Lost. Everyone I heard talking about it just had great things to say about the series as a whole. So when every episode appered on Netflix, I jumped on the oppertunity. As a matter of fact, my wife and I have 6 episodes left and were done. Not to say I wont go back and watch it again in a year or so, but it is a 121 episode series.
In my opinion, Lost may just be one of the best series of all time. I have nothing bad to say about it in any aspect. The chareacters were devolped very well, acting was done very well, and the story just got more interesting as the series went on. All these reasons in mind, I watched the Trailer for Super 8 and wow! This thing looks so interesting I cant even say enough. The little snipit of the plot doesn't give away much and neither what is shown but that styling of marketing intrigues me. The fact that Abrams is directing rather than producing also has my attention.
So the question remains - is Super 8 super? Tell you what, I'm not Ebert and Roper but I say damn straight it will be. As I mentioned earlier, I rarely go to the movies but I am definatly going to see this one. Well, thanks for reading and remember to commment if you would like. I would love to hear any thoughts those of you who read may have. Until next time, see ya!

Can't wait

Thank you both and your both exactly right! Ya know something? I bet this film kills opening weekend regarding box office sales. Thank you for the compliment Matt. I just wanted to give people who may not have heard about it a running chance to see it in theaters. I am still kicking my own ass for not seeing Rambo in theaters so I am not going to do that with this one :)
