Ok here is what is new:

• New Navigation: I am still working on a few fixes for IE. We are not supporting IE6, however there are some minor positioning problems in IE 7 & 8
• Updated the following Existing Modules:
  • Captcha
  • Token
  • Custom Search
  • jquery update
  • CodeFilter: Use code with an open and closed < where you want to enter code for viewers to see (prob just us)
• Added the Advertisement Module: The top banner ads are still running on my flash random swf, however I will be porting them over. I have played with this module and like it because it tracks, Schedules and has a good randomizer
• New Front Page: I only have one add right now-- I will be adding a few as we go
• New Menu Hierarchy: I am still working on populating the correct side content for each page

There is still a lot to work on however this is a good start. I will keep you posted

Okay I got the front page done (finally!!) now i Just have to get the RSS feed straightened out and we will be good to go.

I added a new log in module- its really not necessary but it was cool. When you log into the site (press the log in button) a light box effect will happen and you will be prompted with a user name and password field. The important thing about the module is that it has the option to keep the user on the same page.

I am looking into a newer Share module to add a little more flair to the site. Here are the two I am looking to try on a dev site to make sure its not to much.

Changing the Front Page: not making it an enter now or anything, just want a simple layout for someone to see when they first come to the site. What you see now will go under the news section. Basically in a nutshell its the same layout so:

• Nav
• Flash Banner
• 1 Row 3 Icons:
  • News
  • Latest Project
  • 3tards Buy Now

Combined with the footer statement I have Eric Writing then this should provide a nice clean front page that breaks things up a bit.

I will be in the process of changing the navigation a bit as well, but that is to come.

Added Gallery to pics on 3man and Quarter Pages. When one pic is clicked it tells you that there are a few more to go- you can now click an arrow button when rolled over the right side to advance to the next pic.

Added the 404 Search Module- this will automatically search the site when someone goes somewhere and the page is not found.

Example: neonreel.com/matt will bring up a search result(s) with Matt in it. This way it does more than page not found and should help the user find what it is they are looking for.

I finally found good video capture software- so instead of trying to finish my first tutorial I am instead making it a video blog edition. I will be posting tonight.

I added the "Add to Any" Module for the blogs- with this the user can roll over the social networking icons in the add comment area and then a drop down list appears which gives the user the option to share on twitter, facebook, myspace, well hell any social networking platform rely.

Added another banner to the mix: a Life of a Quarter Banner. You should see it in the mix at some point.

I adjusted the theme to allow the neon reel logo and the search bar to sit in the same real estate area.

You will notice when you log in that the positioning gets thrown off because i Have captcha added to admin pages- this is because it makes it easier to add a captcha when making a site form. don't worry though the general public and the registerd users will not see this.

I also added the module custom search: this makes it so that you can choose any button for the search module, change the default text, and take out the header permanently.

The only problem with the custom search module is the position of the button- It is not anywhere in the css so I will have to fuck with that a bit- but at least this frees up real estate on the left block quad.

I added a module: Page Title Module. I activated it for page pots. This allows you to add a more relevant title vs. the actual title of the page to help with SEO.

Examp:
the title for the 3tards Page is 3tards
you can set the page title to 3tards the Complete Series || What a Show

Changed the site name in the site info settings to: neon reel entertainment || Hagerstown MD. This will help ensure better SEO

I have removed BreadCrumbs from the site. I felt that they took up pointless real estate; there is not enough deep linking to justify having them.

*Note: They are not rely gone, I changed the display block to none so they do not show up. This way if there ever becomes a need for them (a lot of deep linking) then We can change the display block back.

You did not set up grants for forums, its ok because grants is not something built into the drupal core; it is an add on module I use for pages to keep from public or to show (I had the module installed but would not expect you to know about it is what I mean =) ).

Long story short before if you went to neonreel.com/forum then anyone could view anything we did, just not comment,edit,delete etc... now if you go to neonreel.com/forum it shows the topics but it lists as if nothing is there (unless your logged in and are privy to the info). I have to figure out how to get rid of the topics but at least the public cannot follow our thread.

I implemented prettyPhoto into the site to enable video pop ups from Vimeo and YouTube using a "lightbox" effect.

Currently I am trouble shooting vimeo videos; I prefer to use vimeo because of the compression quality, however it just refuses to load.

To use you need to put the link into a DIV(fucked up I know) and call to a class called "gallery clearfix." *note do not call to the class in the link- it gets a little funky.

Then in the link you need to call to prettyPhoto and put the URL for the YouTube Video.

When its done it should look like this:

prettyPhotoExamp.txt

That's it, now the user does not have to leave the page.

I will let you know when Vimeo is working.

I will be updating the theme on my Local Host today and tomorrow and should have it implemented by Monday night. So please hold off on any suggestions etc until the updates have been made. I just don't want to have to say "I am already doing that" lol.
